Hey everyone, this is Alex Dickson of Studio 7-22 LLC. I hope you don't mind, but I want to start off my new blog with a post more about me so you can better get to know me and what I'm about!
To start off with as it says in my quick bio on my page, I've been doing this since 2011. Back then I started with a really basic setup, an audio interface to get audio out of my computer to my new Studio Speakers, FL Studio and that was about it, the interface I had back then didn't even have Phantom Power for Condenser Microphones. Also had a little mini 25 Key Keyboard controller and some basic SHURE headphones.
As you can see, I come from rather, basic beginnings, we all start somewhere I suppose. In my career so far I've worked with a few different genres. I've worked with Rappers, I've produced EDM, and I've recorded a couple of rock style songs. I've also mixed many songs for practice over the years, I've worked with multiple genres, everything from Rap/Hip-hop, Electronic, Metal, and Rock, so I'd say I'm pretty well versed.
When I started actually recording artists in my home studio which was way later, I've focused on recording rappers and vocalists. I've worked with upgrading my tools over the years to provide a better quality service.
Going much further back into my history of music, it all started long ago when my best friend's brother used to have a rap group called Notwal. Odd name, yes? Well it wasn't so odd because they were doing pretty well. Notwal is Lawton spelled backwards, I mean hell, it's not called The Shady 580 for nothing. Anyway they were doing their music and it got my best friend, brother, and I into doing music stuff. Together we never learned much about music theory or how to play instruments, but it was still fun growing up messing with sounds, loops, and all sorts of stuff to put together instrumentals.
As I got older, my brother and best friend had stopped doing music, my brother sold all of his equipment and I decided to go on my own. I've taken my musical craft very seriously, although I'm still learning music theory and how to play the keyboard, I'm not so bad at finger drumming and programming instruments, haha. Anyway, I digress. I've focused on building my skills as an engineer and producer and I continue to work on that as much as I possibly can. Am I the next Timbaland or Young Guru? Nah, not in the slightest, I'm me, but still I work my hardest to provide the best quality music and services to anyone that wants to record with me.
Around the time of my brother and best friend's departure of music we had made more than a few songs, none of which exist any longer, but they were still all very interesting. One song I made for a bass contest for my brother when he did car shows and stuff, I didn't understand the concept of how to make a bass heavy song without clipping it to hell, so I just thought I'd make it louder by going over the red on the meters and that didn't do anything, so that was a lesson learned.
Anyway moving onto today. In the last couple of years I've worked with some great local talent, they are great friends and I love working with them. Some of them include GMK Ru, CTrain, Dowski D, No Talent Hack and the most recent, Tree Da Touch. All of them are excellent artists in their own right, and I love working with them and I want to work with more and more people!
These days this is my environment I work out of, I've got excellent tools to provide excellent recordings and damn near the best in Lawton, Oklahoma.
If you've made it to the end here, I commend thee. If you're interested in working with me, head back over to the quote request form to get started!
